I wanted the ability to split the sound coming from my virgin box via hdmi so that I could have pictures on my projector but sound through my 2:1 amp. Unfortunately in order to get phono out from this box, you have to have phono in! If you want the sound to go out via hdmi, it works well too! So it didnt do what I thought it would do, but I have found a (very complicated) workaround that included this box. In this siutation it works very well.
