Just over a year ago, and with a view to extending the life of a considerable DVD collection, I bought an Onkyo DV-SP406 upscaling DVD player. As noted in any number of reviews, the case is cheap and nasty and the remote small beyond frustration, however, the picture quality is just unbelievably stunning and more than compensates for the unit's other shortfalls. That said, the sound quality (especially piped through several thousand pounds worth of high-end stereo equipment) has never been anything to write home about and, to make matters worse, has gradually deteriorated with an ever worsening earth hum. Whether this is due to poor design or progessive component failure, I can't tell. What I can tell you is that bypassing the Onkyo's below-average analogue output stage using the Cablesson SAP-3 DAC (optical out from the Onkyo via the SAP-3 to a line-in on the amplifier) has given the DVD player a whole new lease of life and lifted its overall performance (including the audio) to a level far above the cost of the component parts - so highly recommended. I should also add that this is the second time I've used ukhdmi and the second time that something has arrived, as ordered, within less than 24 hours. Outstanding.

Had to purchase one of these as my new Samsung LED 8000 Series only has a digital sound output and not an analogue output that I need for my Philips Wi-Fi head set. I have to use the head set so I can have the football as loud as I like without annoying the wife. The audio quality is as good but there is a slight delay which causes an echo effect if the TV sound is turned up. To overcome this either turn the TV down or turn the headset volume up. The delay is not enough to cause lip synch problems so it's a question of balance. If you have a Wi-Fi head set and a Samsung LED Series TV, get one of these DAAC's. You'll not be disappointed.

I'd just bought a plasma TV and once it was installed I realised it didn't have a headphone socket. The only convenient audio-OUT connector was the optical link. After a little research, I found this product. The plan was to convert optical-to-analogue for the headphones. The device worked perfectly, and I cannot fault it for that. It is compact and does exactly what it says it does on the tin! You need an optical cable for the input and a suitable RCA-type cable for the output to whatever you are using the analogue signal for.I quickly discovered that the optical signal level is not controlled from the TV (and I assume other equipment is the same) - it is essentially a low level signal that is amplified by whatever you connect to it (surround sound speakers, etc.) Mere headphones do not have this facility. So it was necessary to purchase a small headphone amplifier, although a normal amplifier with an AUX input would work perfectly. As I say, the SAP-3 itself is an ideal solution for getting an analogue signal from an optical one if you don't have an amplifier with an optical input.

This is an excellent product and rescued the situation when I discovered that the smart-asses in Samsung have decided to do away with analogue connections on their new LED TVs (they don't even have a headphone jack!!)- the only audio out is digital. In fact, beware these LED TVs as the sound is terrible requiring substantial further investment on; - a digital to analogue convertor, digital out cable, sound sytem, HDMI cables etc. I didn't want all the wiring with a home cinema system so I went for a Polk Soundbar with wireless subwoofer - great product but only analogue input hence the need for the convertor! All in all I spent the same amount on accessories as I did on the TV - lesson learned - I'll not be rushing out to buy another Samsung Led - they've seriously skimped on connections.

This digital to analogue audio converter is perfect for my Samsung UE32B6000 LED TV and my stereo music system. The only one problem was the plug it has. It only can be used in England but fortunatelly I could buy and adaptor for only 1€ and it works fine now. Also I received my parcel on time. Thanks for the great support of UKHDMI.Un saludo.

works perfectly, simple to install. This Digital to Analogue Audio Converter is a must if you buy one of the new generation Samsung LED televisions that have no analoge audio output.

Just wanted to tell any potential purchasers that this Digital to Analogue Audio Converter does do the job it is designed for and does it well, with no loss of sound quality! Very simple to install (literally plug and play)!Using to connect a Samsung 7 series led tv to my Bose Wave Audio. As the Samsung only has an optical out and my Bose only has av analogue (red/white) connectors I was originally told I would have to buy a DAC box costing a couple of hundred quid. So this has saved me loads of money and headaches into the bargain, thanks UKHDMI!!

I'd been in the market for something to improve the sound quality of my Toshiba LCD television for quite a while. Having acquired the television, although I was bowled over by the picture quality (Toshiba AV635DB), I have to say I was underwhelmed by the sound coming from the built in speakers. Even with bass boosted to full, it was thin and lifeless, with blockbuster movies sounding very lacklustre. I thought about a home cinema, but didn't want to invest in a new DVD player, the Toshiba I had was extremely good quality and I saw little reason to change it. It was then than I started to think about hooking the TV up to the hi-fi, but I didn't have an optical input on the Rotel amp - So how was I going to do this? I started to Google optical connections and found that it was possible to take the audio out of the TV and put it through a DAC box, then input it to my amp via two phono leads. This sounded like the answer to all my prayers! After reading the reviews on Amazon and TV forums I thought I'd buy this little box and give it a go. Well it's completely transformed the sound of my viewing experience, everything is bigger, grander, louder, more detailed, the stereo imaging is fabulous, all in all, this piece of kit is just AWESOME! It was so easy to connect and there is no loss of signal, in fact the clarity and detail is fantastic, and it's completely noiseless - no hiss, crackling etc. Powered by it's own wall wart, it's everything I was looking for, and I didn't need to have a whole load of small speakers, subwoofers and leads and stands everywhere to get it. And all this for under forty quid! Magic.

Purchaed this item to connect Virgin Media V fibre optic digital audio output to my HiFi for high quality TV Sound as new Virgin boxes do not have analogue audio outputs. Worked out of the box but do remember to buy the fibre optic cable also from UKHDMI ( Part code XO Digital Optical Cable 1m / 1 Metre Premium Install Series) as the CYP-DCT-3 is not supplied with a fibre patch cable included.

This was exactly the product I was looking for. I have a sony surround sound system that does not have digital input and an LG plasma tv that only had digital out for audio. Althouigh the converter only supports stereo, it works perfectly and saved me the hassle of having to purchase and set up a new home cinema system.

Finally I found the right piece of kit to convert my LG LCD TV optical output to an analogue signal and play the sound through my hi fi system.A piece of cake to connect, compact and works superbly producing no undesireable noise from the speakers when quiet. Really chuffed, great product and great service.
