As another well known TV ad puts it:-"It does what it says on the packet"I am extremely pleased with the product which did exactly what I wanted straight out of the packet. It was no trouble to adjust the System Settings to use the USB Audio, it only takes a moment.I was really fed up trying to get my HDMI feed to work with line audio output jacks. They seemed to work ok with Panasonic Viera HD TV's but not Sony Bravia HDTV's. My frustration has now ended and I would recommend these leads to any MacBook Pro owner unlucky enough to have purchased their laptop before Apple FINALLY upgraded the MDP to include integrated audio!! (mid 2010)

I have a MacBook Pro 2009 version and was looking for a cable to connect to a HDMI to the TV. The only downside was the audio output until I came across this Cable. I was a bit sceptical if the audio would work but was very pleasantly surprised that it did what it said on the package. Once plugged into the relevant ports and attached to the HDMI lead you just need to go into system settings, sound and then change the output to USB and hey presto you have audio through your TV. With reference to ordering the cable from UKHDMI, they were quick and efficient in delivering the item and kept me updated with the progress of my order.

Any MAcbook or Macbook Pro before 2010 may well run into the problem that the Mini Display Port doesn't carry audio - therefore no sound on the HDMI cable. This box fixes the problem nicely - you just have to go into System Preferences / Sound and enable USB audio - I checked before I bought and that option wasn't there, so I was a bit cynical - but it appears when you plug the cable in. Does what it says on the tin. Only possible downside is that is is quite pricey, you could probably put a stereo jack to your hifi for a lot less, and just send the video to your TV.If you have a Dolby surround sound or similar, you'd want to skip this model and go for the next one up with SPDIF.

Have only used this briefly but so far works perfectly to get both sound and vision from MacBook Pro onto the HDTV and much less hassle and significantly cheaper than the Apple suggestions or any of the other suggestions you find if you Google a solution. You need to adjust the sound on the mac (Settings - Sounds - Output) to "USB" but that option is only available after you have inserted the USB cable into the Mac.

I bought this to work with a 2009 Macbook Pro 15in. I got a bit muddled at first as no audio, even with the USB audio output selected. Tech support helped out and suggested I mirrored the displays - this worked and continued to work even after I unmirrored the displays again. Quality is fantastic, although the converter box itself does get quite hot, so make sure not to block it's cooling vents.

I finally found something apple are not good at which is having a direct interface for HDMI output compared to my HP laptop. But with this cable which uses the Display port for vision and USB for sound into a single HDMI connector it overcomes this short coming. I am using on a MAC Airbook - latest model.
