I needed this product becuse the HDMI switcher on my Sony DA5200ES Amp would not pass 3D signals.The product works well and passes 3D pictures via HDMI cable to my TV, and sound, via either Optical or Coaxial cable, to my Amp, which allows me to watch 3D pictures in surround sound.Unfortunately the switch doesn't work automatically, but I believe that this is because my Virgin V cable box prevents this. However, it is no hardship to operate the switch either maually or via the remote.

I had the optional firmware installed that allows you to switch an "audio-only" source, so I cannot comment on the Smart Scan feature of the device, but others have already said it works very well.In my case, the unit is smaller than I expected and feels nicely built.I've built it into a system run by a Logitech Harmony remote and everything functions correctly.The only thing I would have liked to have known in advance is the following:The unit does not have the ability to connect HDMI cables only to the inputs and have the audio routed out of the optical or coax output to your AV amp.It's basically three switchers in one unitVideo/Audio through HDMIAudio through CoaxAudio through ToslinkIf your AV amp has limited HDMI inputs, you're laughing, because the entire signal will route through the HDMI output to your amp and then do all the switching for you.If your AV amp is audio only (mine is Toslink), you MUST connect the optical audio inputs to get an optical audio output.So for my Apple TV and Virgin Cable box I have both the HDMI and Toslink cables connected, which then send the video over HDMI to the TV and the audio over Toslink to the amp.It's not a really big deal, it just means a few extra cables for me, but it's important info all the same.

I had read good reviews of this device so decided to buy despite the price 'cos I really needed an automatic switched quickly. I had sorta expected to be disappointed but no: it really does make intelligent choices as to which input to route: I can't fault it yet and the remote control is staying in the drawer.

It works and it works well which is great.The only comment I feel it is worth making is that for this price it would be nice if the unit didn't feel quite so cheap and would be good if it had gold connectors etc rather than the parts used which all seem very budget.Having said that it works and I am happy with the purchase.Also please note the smart scan feature works for all of my devices except the Panasonic BD60 blu-ray player which requires manual switching.

I am running an XBox 360, Sony Blu-ray and Nintendo Wii into a surround sound amp that has limited HDMI and optical inputs. This has solved all my problems in terms of input selection and made the thing as "wife-friendly" as can be - she just needs to turn on what she wants and it works. Not sure what happens if more than one thing is turned on at the same time, but I'm sure we'll work that out ;-). I hesitated about buying this for a while, as it's quite expensive, but (for me) it's proved to be worth it for the simplicity it brings.

Bought this both to increase the number of optical inputs on my surround sound system and to reduce the number of HDMI cables going to my wall mounted TV.All works excellently and is highly recommended. The depth of the unit is a lot less than I thought it might be and is easily placed on top of other A/V equipment or on a shelf. Extra added bonus is the distinct remote codes which mean it works perfectly with my Logitech Harmony remote.Excellent service from UKHDMI, prompt service and fast delivery. Highly recommended.

Having recently bought a 1920x1200 monitor with DVI input, I wanted to plug my HDMI gadgets into it. No problem, the HDMI picture comes across wonderfully. There is no sound transfer, so the Octava HDS4A was perfect for the need to distribute four separate optical audio stream into one input.The remote control is easy to use and very powerful, the auto off function is an energy saving delight and the ability to turn the LEDs off means that it is ideal for watching Blu Rays in the dark.The Octava and monitor came in much cheaper than a comparable Hi-Def television.

I found it easy to set up, just plug and play. Although for some reason the documentation says it can support a max of 1080i, which is a bit odd. I tried it on my xbox360 which outputs at 1080p, and it handled that quite fine! The autoselection of inputs works great. You can override it with the remote control if you wish, and even mix and match audio and video inputs (eg video input 1 and audio input 3).
