The Cablesson Mini DisplayPort(Male) to HDMI(Male) Cable is a single cable solution that supports HD video and 5.1 audio pass-through from your Mini DisplayPort output to an HDMI display and to carry wherever you go. It can be used in a Hotel room, on Business trips or watch Movies from your Mac or PC at a friend’s house. The Thunderbolt port is fully compatible with this single cable solution eliminating cable clutter.
HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display. HDCP compatible products such as DVD players, satellite and cable HDTV set-top-boxes, as well as few entertainment PCs requires a secure connection to a compliant display.
EDID stands for Extended Display Identification Data. It’s a data structure indicating the capabilities of a display that is communicated to a computer graphics source. Its built-in Auto-EDID feature, that adapts to maximum resolution, depends on the users display.
