HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display. Products compatible with the HDCP scheme such as DVD players, satellite and cable HDTV set-top-boxes, as well as few entertainment PCs requires a secure connection to a compliant display. It is highly recommended that any HDTV you purchase is HDCP compatible.

The idea behind such a label is to reassure you, the consumer, that a product that you are purchasing will be capable of meeting the hardware requirements so as to display HD or in the case of 3D Ready, 3D content without requiring any additional hardware or upgrades.

EDID stands for Extended Display Identification Data. It is a data structure indicating the capabilities of a display that is communicated to a computer graphics source. The EDID with minimal resolution support will be the reference EDID for incoming HDMI sources. So if one of the monitors is 720p and rest are 1080p, resolution will be lowered to 720p for all the sources.

It includes Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD. DTS stands for “Digital Theatre Systems”. This sound system is capable of reproducing 6 distinct channels of sound. True HD delivers up to 7.1-channel playback for the most realistic and immersing Blu-ray audio experience available from your home theatre. It supports up to 16 discrete channels and offers expandability to accommodate more channels in the future.
